In November 2005, Daniel J. McQuaid was named President/CEO of the Volunteer Center Orange County. He guided the transformation d 50+ year old volunteer center, adding professional training, expert consulting, and fiscal sponsorship services. In 2010, McQuaid led the organization’s rebranding and name change to OneOC with a mission to accelerate nonprofit success.

In 2015, the OC Register named McQuaid one of Orange County’s “Top 15 to Watch in 2015” recognizing his leadership in launching OneOC’s Center for Business & Community Partnerships. It is a one-stop shop for local companies to build and grow their charitable giving and employee volunteering, in turn generating more resources to help nonprofits address urgent and unmet community needs.

McQuaid has 30 years of leadership experience as a chief executive officer, community leader, board chairperson. Since 2000, McQuaid has been retained as a consultant to more than 125 Southern California nonprofits, providing growth planning, organizational development, leadership coaching, and program evaluation, and training services.

For twenty years, McQuaid was the Executive Director of Canyon Acres Children’s Services. Under his leadership, Canyon Acres’ developed a full array of integrated child welfare and mental health services for severely abused and emotionally troubled children and their families.

In addition to his work in the nonprofit sector, McQuaid is an inactive licensed child, adult, and family psychotherapist. He holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Riverside and a MS in Social Work with distinction from Columbia University.

Tim has served over 23 years as a successful nonprofit leader dedicated to building and strengthening communities. During this time he has led, guided and empowered individuals to seek their greatest potential while making a positive difference in others.

His background includes leadership development, operations and business expansion, board and volunteer advancement, financial development, and strategic planning.

He is the Chief Operating Officer for OneOC. Before his current position, Tim was the Executive Vice President with the YMCA of Orange County.

Tim is a nationally certified trainer in leadership, program and management courses. His education includes a Bachelors Degree from University of Southern California and a Masters Degree from Florida State University.

Barbara Powers has served as OneOC’s Chief Development Officer since February 2008. She has 20-plus years of experience in major gifts, capital campaigns, planned giving, annual campaigns, special events, direct mail, grant writing and cause-related marketing with organizations including American Red Cross, YMCA, Orange County High School of the Arts and The Philharmonic Society of Orange County. Barbara is certified as a CFRE through the Association of Fundraising Professionals since 2000, and serves on AFPOC’s board of directors. Honors include the Western Region and Chapter Tiffany Award for Excellence in Management from American Red Cross.

Holding a BA in Journalism/Public Relations from San Diego State University, Barbara is a native Southern Californian and lives in Lake Forest with her husband, Tim, and their two children, Cory, 16, and Brooke, 13.


Valerie Fryer

As the Director of Finance, Valerie Fryer has been handling the Financial, Human Resource and Business Services at OneOC since July 2007.

Valerie has over eighteen years of experience as a financial analyst, internal auditor, sales and business planning manager and financial director, working for companies such as Taco Bell Corp., Pioneer Electronics and Disneyland Resort.

Valerie grew up doing volunteer work, and wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives and in the community. She joined the nonprofit management industry in 2002, working for Olive Crest Treatment Centers prior to joining the team at OneOC. She holds a BA in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MBA in Business Management from Pepperdine University.
